Asked if he was prepared to use Jordan Howard as a bell-cow back, Bears coach Matt Nagy responded "in this offense, it’s more game specific, as to whether or not you need that."
Nagy did also say that Howard has "proven" he can handle that role. For his part, Howard said Nagy has already told him he's "going to be the main guy." Howard said Nagy has been on him to improve his pass catching, going as far as to throw to Howard himself during practice. Always inconsistent in fantasy because of his stone hands, Howard seems poised to be even more volatile this season.
